Audit Reference ID

An audit reference ID is a unique identifier assigned by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) when a taxpayer has been contacted by a CRA audit or review officer. It allows the CRA to link a submission—such as a Voluntary Disclosures Program (VDP) application—to an existing audit, review, or enforcement file.

How to obtain an audit reference ID

The audit reference ID is provided directly by a CRA agent when the CRA initiates contact with a taxpayer as part of an audit, review, or compliance activity.

This form is used to make a disclosure under the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Voluntary Disclosures Program (VDP), including disclosures related to cryptocurrency and other digital assets. The form may be completed online if the individual has an audit reference ID provided by a CRA agent. To obtain an audit reference ID call +1 (800) 959-8281.
